TBR is a collective of bicycle enthusiasts committed to removing bikes from the waste stream, and putting them back into use. Join us as we build bicycle community through hands-on education.
Today will be the last day (11/3/2010) that the shop will be open on Wednesdays during the winter. We will announce special events, like film nights, as the winter progresses. Look for us going back to regular hours in March.
Troy NY - Troy Bike Rescue (TBR) is getting into the holiday spirit, by organizing a children's bike drive to benefit Unity House, Rensselaer County's domestic violence program. TBR will be accepting gently used kids bikes to repair and donate to the program's holiday gift drive. These bikes will end up under Christmas trees and as a part of other holiday celebrations for families who might otherwise not be able to give their kids a bicycle.
Bikes can be dropped off at the Troy workshop, at 51 3rd Street in Troy NY. The shop is open regularly Monday and Wednesdays from 5-8PM. Troy Bike Rescue will be organizing a volunteer day and holiday party, to make sure the bikes are ready to ride on Saturday December 12 from 1 to 5 PM.
We got back from bike bike late Monday and weren't able to open the shop. Sorry to anyone who may have come Monday night and not heard the word.
Bike Bike 2009 was great. The Grease Pitt put on a great event and we had a lot of fun. We were very envious of the Minneapolis's dedication to usable bike paths, community gardens, free organic food, cooperative businesses, light rail system and a lot of really friendly people.
There were a lot of great workshops on a lot of different shop related topics, and we have some great ideas from the different workshops.
Check out Troy's community bike space and weekly self-service workshop at this month's Troy Night Out.
We will have a variety of bikes ready to ride and up for instant adoption -- single-speeds, 3-speeds, 5-speeds, 10 speeds, and kids' bikes.

Congratulations to Feliks and Dakota for placing first and third in the annual capital district communter contest, and proving that bikes are cooler than cars. Also to Andrew F for coming in 5th, and to every other bike that raced, you know who you are.
